…reach out and tickle one creature, or twirl your fingers through another’s tendrils in an ASMR-like experience…
Furries are nonfigural XR sculptures that audiences can reach out and touch via touchscreen, LED display, or projection. Created in Unity and running in real-time, their fluid movements and playful colors invite audiences to approach and interact with them. People can reach out and tickle one creature, or twirl their fingers through another’s tendrils in an ASMR-like experience. The artwork is part of an ongoing series exploring soft, touchable things and explores the dynamics of soft body physics, the breaking of the fourth wall and the subtle sensations evoked by digital technologies that summon the familiar.
Botanica SF was a community driven art show that took place in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood in December 2019. The huge warehouse location was taken over by local and international artists for one night, to celebrate art in all it’s forms. Furries was among the works presented.
