unity, leap motion

Furries are nonfigural floating digital sculptures that exist purely in binary form on a touchscreen, LED display, or projection. Created in Unity and running in real-time, their festive coloring and fluid physics invite audiences to approach and interact with them. Users can reach out and, via a Leap Motion controller and hand tracking, tickle one creature, or twirl their fingers through another’s tendrils in an ASMR-like experience.

Through this piece, people can explore the relationship between their senses and the procedural mirroring of the familiar. Welcoming yet otherworldly, Furries are creatures that puzzle our perceptual understanding and call into question what we see, touch, and experience, asking us to contemplate what we know about what we’re feeling.
